Charlotte Touring Company Performs at Lakeland -

Lakeland BoxOffice - Tuesday, October 10, 2017

On October 5th, Lakeland Theatre welcomed The Children’s Theatre of Charlotte’s Touring Company. The company performed “The Imaginators”, a story of three children and the power of imagination.  Jamie Carmichael of Florida Repertory Company, in his review of the show, stated; “The Imaginators” is a hilarious play that reminds children and grownups alike about the power and magic of the imagination”.

Students and staff from Halifax, Warren and Northampton counties attended this special student event for area elementary school children.  This show gave the children the opportunity to see a performance from an acclaimed Children’s Theatre without leaving the area.  Teacher resource guides created for this production, which meet North Carolina Curriculum Standards, were given to the schools to use to expand upon the performance in the classroom.

Prior to the performance, Lakeland honored groups who supported the children’s programs this year. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to Halifax Electric Membership Corporation, Roanoke Rapids Walmart and The Lake Gaston Ladies Club.  Charles H. Guerry, General Manager and Executive Vice President of Halifax EMC and Brady A. Martin, Manager of Marketing and Economic Development of Halifax EMC represented Halifax Electric.  “Like Lakeland Theatre, Halifax EMC is a membership organization, dedicated to principles that include Education, Co-operation and Concern for Community.  We are proud to support the programs at Lakeland and excited to see the involvement of our members and the contributions they make that benefit the community with our support”, Guerry stated.

Members of Lake Gaston Ladies Club attending the event were Valerie Ruch, Club President, Linda Weingarten, Past President and Pat Trainum, Vice President.  The ladies’ comments were: “The show was fantastic.  We were impressed with the way the actors fully engaged the children. We were glad we could be a part of it

This event and other children’s programs at Lakeland would not be possible without community support.   With grants and sponsorships, Lakeland will be able to continue to offer its’ children’ summer workshop and additional children’s programming into the future.

Charles Guerry, Nancy Grueneich, Brady Martin. Nancy is presenting a certificate to the Halifax EMX for their sponsorship of the show.

Freezer Donated to Local Church -

Lakeland BoxOffice - Friday, September 29, 2017

The musical/comedy "Church Basement Ladies" just finished a very successful run at Lakeland Theater and Cultural Arts Center in Littleton, NC.  The church basement kitchen is often the heart and soul of many churches throughout America. The play was dedicated in their honor for all of the food they have prepared and the advice they have given in both the good and troubled times.

A brand new 15 cubic foot chest freezer was purchased to be used in the stage kitchen set. In the spirit of the show, all of the area  churches (150 total) were invited to attend and for each group of ten tickets they purchased they were given one raffle ticket for a chance to win the freezer.

The churches who purchased blocks of tickets were Littleton Baptists Church, St. Joe the Worker Catholic Church, St John the Baptists Catholic Church, Pleasant Hill Christian Church and Lakeside Lutheran Church. The winner of the freezer was St. John the Baptists Catholic Church.

A special donation was given to Lakeland Theater in the amount of $250 which was to be shared with the other churches who bought blocks of tickets. Each of them received a check in the amount of $50 to be used in their church basement kitchen fund as a way of thanking them for what they do and for supporting Lakeland Theater.

Church Basement Ladies - Group Rates -

Lakeland BoxOffice - Friday, August 25, 2017
Lakeland Theatre & Cultural Arts Center cordially invites you and our Church family to join us for our production of Church Basement Ladies.

Church Basement Ladies, a celebration of the church basement kitchen and the women who work there, features four distinct characters and their relationships as they organize the food and the problems of a rural Minnesota church. From the elderly matriarch of the kitchen to the young bride-to-be learning the proper order of things, the book and music give us a touching, funny look at their lives as we see them handle a record breaking Christmas dinner, the funeral of a dear friend, a Hawaiian Easter Fundraiser, and a steaming hot July wedding.

They stave off potential disasters, share and debate recipes, instruct the young, and keep the Pastor on due course while thoroughly enjoying, (and tolerating) each other. Funny and down to earth, audiences will recognize these ladies as they begin to see the Church year unfold from below the House of God.

Lakeland offers special rates for groups:
-groups of 15+: $14.00/person
-groups of 30+: $13.00/person

For every 10 tickets sold as a group, your church will be entered for a chance to win a BRAND NEW Maytag freezer (15 cu. Ft) valued at $550.

Karaoke Fund-Raiser June 3rd -

Lakeland BoxOffice - Saturday, June 03, 2017

Karaoke Fund raiser being held at Lakeland's Cabaret June 3rd from 6pm-11pm for Megan Keim.

Marcy & Megan have been a part of the Lakeland Family for a few years.  Megan has accepted internships in Asheville NC and will be moving at the end of June.

Megan has faced so much the last few years with her dad getting sick and frequent hospitalizations for herself.

No matter how stressful our lives become in the midst of these difficulties, she has dedicated herself to remaining positive and she faces everything without complaint. Even when she received the devastating diagnosis in December regarding the auto-immune disease, she chose to stay positive and just do what she can to prove the doctors wrong. Her health has already taken so much from her. I don't want it to take away her opportunity to follow her dreams that she has worked so hard for as well.

Come hear Megan and several others sign their heart out on Lakeland's Cabaret Stage.  No cover charge, accepting donations in it's place.
